Final VFX project - https://vimeo.com/72646840

My inspiration for this project is my allergy/sensitivity to eggs.  Nuf said.  Well actually, I'm going to make a few changes to it next semester so it can go on my reel.  https://vimeo.com/72646840 https://vimeo.com/72646840

A sculpture of Genie from Semester 2.

It was fun to get back to my sculpting roots.  If only it had been real clay and not chavant. Once I get it back from the display case I'll take some better photos with better lighting.

Lizard/Snake for VFX project

Here are some images in Mudbox of a spiny lizard head and snake body for my VFX project that I'm working on

Animation segment from short film "Don't be an Ass" http://youtu.be/R_Xr0NpUvBs

This is a segment for my short film that I am animating while my partner in crime Marie Sanginesi is doing the lighting, texturing, and rendering.  It's basically a walk cycle that I'll be using for a few different scenes.  There's a bit of a surprise at the end.  So far I'm pretty happy with the walk cycle, but he seems a bit more crippled than just old so i may do some more tweaking. http://youtu.be/R_Xr0NpUvBshttp://youtu.be/R_Xr0NpUvBs

You can see more of Marie's texturing and lighting work here - http://marie-ms.tumblr.com/http://marie-ms.tumblr.com/

"The Baker"

I was asked to do the modelling for a student project that will be featured at TAFFI 2013.  Pretty cool.  Here is the main character "The Baker"

Image projection and light matching in Maya

The goal was to project an image into Maya and then match the ground perspective, place in objects and then light them.

Lighting and Rendering in Maya - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3zS42YB2R8

So no shadows on this so it looks a little silly, but shadows were not a requirement for this assignment.  The image was projected onto topology that I match modelled in Maya and then a simple camera move was used to create some parallax. The guitar was added and lighting was used to match it to the scene. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3zS42YB2R8

Maya Dynamics - Soft Bodies and Particles - Semester 3 work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9jfv6BuHKg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9jfv6BuHKghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9jfv6BuHKg

So this assignment for my semester 3 dynamics class was to use particles (raindrops) and softbodies (footsteps). The walk cycle was from semester 2 and now seems rather jerky to me. Animation was not the point of this exercise anyways.

Dynamics Rigid Bodies project.  After not watching this for about a month I can see that the box is still a bit too slow even though I sped it up SO much.  Funny how after a while of watching something over and over again in Maya will make it seem ok.

I realized that I forgot to post my biggest project from semester 1.  So this is about 7 months old.  I agree with my teachers - the lighting is horrible.  Wish I could go back in time on that one. But I think the rest of it still stands up. I'd also do some sub surface scatter for the tomato shader.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ln2MWVv44oc

Elephant in a Little Car

This elephant will be in my short film along with my donkey.  I may do a few more tweaks here and there....

Lip Sync - http://youtu.be/rBe2PqUOdcE

Here is my first lip sync and my last animation project for my second semester at Centennial College.  I found this really challenging as the vocals I chose were not very animated itself, so I had to restrain the animation, but still animate it enough that it was still interesting to watch.  In the annotated words of my prof Matt Lyon, - What's the point in animating a character if you're not going to push it beyond what a regular human being can do. http://youtu.be/rBe2PqUOdcE

Matte Painting Projection in Maya http://youtu.be/R39iqe7N7vc

So here is my matte painting projected in Maya. My camera movements are pretty clumsy but more than enough to show the layers of my cards that my matte painting has been projected onto.

Progress on the Jack Ass

Here is my donkey showing some of the blend shapes I built for him as well as textures and my rigging.  I have a few changes I want to make for using him in my short film, but overall I'm pleased with my progress.  I have a lattice for each eye that I still need to figure out how to put controllers on so his eyes can pop out of his head.  He's going to be a fun character to play with.

My first attempt at a matte painting.  I really enjoyed this, but unfortunately we only have 6 weeks of matte painting.

Mailbox Pantomime - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5yoEqDq77c

Basically I had to take my existing walk cycle and build upon his character to interact with the mailbox in a believable way.  I watched alot of krumping videos to get some of the poses.

Jack Ass

This is my model of a roughly humanoid donkey.  For the purposes of my modeling class I had to design and  model a bipedal  character with hands. For the purposes of my short film that I am completing with my classmate Marie Sanginesi, I needed to model a humanoid donkey.  Luckily I was able to almost hit two birds with one stone.  I just needed to do a small modification from hands to hooves as can be seen below.

The following is a model of an Ogre that all second semester digital animation students at Centennial must complete.  The design is courtesy of Matt Lyon, our character design teacher. Our superb instructor for modelling is Bohdan Ruzycky.
